The Who/What/Why
For four years I worked for and later helped run a creative, agency-like, team internally for Cisco in Raleigh, NC. In this role I provided creative direction and insight into a corporately ran team to inject a new blend of never-before-seen creativity into a stagnant corporate, but wildly talented, team. Working within the parameters and red tape of the corporate world is always tricky but with this team we were able to achieve. It wasn’t always high-level creative concepting, however. A lot of the day to day tasks included building out and implementing company-wide communication plans to different buckets of Cisco’s 72,000 employee base. These communications included not only regular email channels, but also digital signage, video, and sometimes the occasional live event. Over my four years there I learned how to speak to every level of employee from C-suite executives signing off on high-profile initiatives to on the ground engineers in the trenches of Cisco’s newest products.
